Needle Flame Test Apparatus
Fire Hazard & Ignition Resistance Testing Equipment
Sensotech Instruments Inc. offers a precision-engineered Needle Flame Test Apparatus designed for evaluating the fire hazard and ignition resistance characteristics of electrical and electronic products, insulating materials, and plastic components. The equipment is manufactured according to IS 11000-2-2 (2008) / IEC 60695-11-5:2016 standards for accurate and reliable flame testing performance. The apparatus consists of a draught-free test chamber with a minimum chamber volume of approximately 0.5 m³, ensuring stable testing conditions without airflow disturbances. The chamber is generally provided with a dark interior, observation window, and an integrated fume exhaust fan for safe operation and easy monitoring during testing. The system includes an adjustable burner mechanism capable of operating between 45° and 90° angles, allowing accurate flame application on the test specimen. Automated burner movement systems move the burner towards and away from the sample for consistent testing results. Modern units are equipped with PLC-based controls and HMI touch screen interfaces for automatic test sequence control, timer settings, and digital result recording. For flame calibration and temperature verification, the apparatus uses a K-type mineral insulated Inconel thermocouple (Ø0.5 mm) along with a standard copper block to ensure the flame temperature rises from 100°C to 700°C within 23.5 seconds as specified in the standard. The equipment also includes important safety features such as exhaust systems for combustion gas removal and optional remote-control operation for enhanced operator safety.
